Foiled!

Hi all - Jo here to dare you this week, we'd all like to say a big "Thank you" to everyone who's joined in with Kathy's "Hide and seek" dare and I would like to say a huge thank you to the DCM girls for stepping in with a last minute Little Extra this week and thank you to all of you who joined in.

My dare this week is 'Foiled!' -I would like you to utilise some plain old aluminium (aluminum for our friends across the pond!) foil from your kitchen :). You can scrunch it, die cut it, emboss it, ink it, coil it, cover chipboard - or anything else that you choose!

Remember to leave a comment so we can pop over to see your foiled creations.

We do visit every Blog and try to leave as many comments as possible. There are so many amazing creations that we can't all leave a comment - we hope you understand.

You can still join in the fun if you don't have a Blog, just send a Photo/scan to the team at;

daringcardmakers@hotmail.co.uk

and your creation will be added to our Gallery for all to see.

This week also - we are lucky to be able to offer a spot prize to one of our lucky contributors! The prize has very kindly been supplied by Paper Pesto ! The prize consists of a selection of some yummy papers and embellishments from their delicious January kit. Paper Pesto kits are always inspirational- so make sure you find time to pop over and have a browse of their web site and the blog too !
All you have to do to qualify for the spot prize is join in and make a card for this weeks dare. We will announce the winner who will be picked at random next week. Good luck and remember - you have to be in to win ! Thanks once again to Kate and the rest of the team at Paper Pesto.

Sending in the Substitute!

Today's Little Extra was going to feature a tutorial by the fabby Jo which we hoped would inspire you to get creating. But poor Jo's been poorly all night and hasn't been able to upload it, so we'll just have to hang on a bit longer for that one - it'll be something to look forward to though. Hope you're feeling better really soon, Jo.

Tempting Template
In the meantime here's a card sketch for you to play with. Remember, you can twist, shrink, stretch and even turn it upside down - as long as we can find the basic plan in there use this sketch in whatever way you like. Just remember to come and tell us where we can see what you've made. Here are cards from Rachel, Kathy and Sue to help get you started

Hide and Seek

Hi there, It's me, Kathy, here to set the challenge this week, but before I do we'd all like to say a big "Thank you" to everyone who's joined in with Jane's "Me & My Shadow" dare and this week's Little Extra. We love to see all your wonderful cards and hope you enjoy visiting all the blogs as much as we do.g all the blogs as much as we do.

Okay, for my dare we're heading to the playground for a game of
Hide & Seek
I'd like you to make a card which has a hidden component of some sort.
The hidden part could be a tag, a concealed photo, message or something along those lines, maybe a pull-out or pop-up.
Anything goes as lon
g as there's something extra for the recipient to find on your card that's not immediately visible when they open the envelope.
The Design Team have made some fab cards to help get you thinking - but you'll have to visit their personal blogs to see the hidden extra!

Joining in with the DCM is easy, just leave a message with a link to your blog or wherever else we can see your card on the comments thread and we'll pop over to see your Hide & Seek cards. Alternatively you can email a photo to our gallery at daringcardmakers@hotmail.co.uk

Our Mid Week Tribute !

Hello everyone !

Thank you once again for rising to the challenge so brilliantly and coming up with so many beautiful cards for the 'Me and My Shadow' dare. I was amazed at how many people took up the challenge and produced some absolutely gorgeous cards. Well done everyone !

Now, as you are probably aware, both Lynne and Gillian sadly stepped down from the Design team recently, and all though the DCM team's door is always open for them, we thought it would be nice to pay a little tribute to them in appreciation for all their wonderful work during their time on the DCM design team. Lythan came up with an idea that we make a card in the 'style' of either Lynne or Gillian's cards. Or maybe pick your favourite of theirs and use an element from their cards on your own card. Everyone has their own style- we thought it might be a little challenge to try out a different style for a change!

Once again we on the design team would like to wish Gillian and Lynne well on their new ventures and hope to maybe see them joining us for the occasional dare in the future, time permitting.

Now as always, you can share your designs with us in one of two ways, either leave a comment and include the link to your card /blog or drop us a line at daringcardmakers@hotmail.co.uk with your piccy and we will add it to our DCM gallery.

Now here's a few from the design team to share with you from Rhi, Lythan, Keryn, Sue, Jo and Rachel...

Me and My Shadow !!

Hiya fellow darers, Jane here ! How are you all ? This weeks dare is a hard one !! Sorry everyone, but it had to be done !! :)

I want you to create not just one but TWO cards ! But wait........there's more ! I want both cards to contain the same embellishments and papers, ribbons etc- but arranged in a different way for a different occasion....the only thing being different is the wording....I'll let you have different wording ! (How nice of me eh?) I'm well aware this is a really hard challenge, and that I have thrown everyone into 2008 off the deep end....but go on- give it a go - I DARE YOU !

We're very happy to welcome Sue Hyde as our Guest Designer for the next couple of weeks, Sue's work is always beautiful and her attention to detail is second to none. We're delighted that Sue agreed to come on board and hope you'll enjoy seeing her work both here and on her blog

Now as always, you can share your beautiful cards with us in one of two ways, either leave a comment and include the link to your card /blog or drop us a line at daringcardmakers@hotmail.co.uk with your piccy and we will add it to our DCM gallery, for all to see. Now, we are making a few slight changes in 2008, we have some fresh and exciting new ideas coming through mainly to do with our Mid week dares. The main weekly dares will run the same as always, but from now on we may not neccessarily be asking you to make a card for the 'Little Extra something' which happens mid week. Some of the team are going to be doing tutorials, we might be setting up some double dares, and we will be introducing some undividual interviews on both the team and our contributors....so watch this space ! Now off you go and make a card (or two) - I can't wait to see what you all make of this challenging dare ! Good luck !.

Lynne's Dare - 'New'

'HAPPY NEW YEAR DARING CARD MAKERS'

The first dare of 2008 is set by me (Lynne).

For this weeks dare, I would like our cards to celebrate

'New'

So not only New Year, but maybe New Home, New Baby, New Job or maybe a card for someone who is starting a new chapter in their life.

Daring Cardmakers is starting a new chapter too. Two of us are expecting babies very soon so look out for more news of that. And sadly for the rest of us, Gillian and Lynne are stepping down from the team in order to focus on other things. We shall really miss Lynne and Gillian's creative spark, loving support and wonderful talent. And we wish all four well with whatever the new year delivers!

Remember to leave a comment so we can hot-tail it over to see your creations.

We do visit every Blog and try to leave as many comments as possible. There are so many amazing creations that we can't all leave a comment - we hope you understand.

You can still join in the fun if you don't have a Blog, just send a Photo/scan to the team at;

daringcardmakers@hotmail.co.uk

and your creation will be added to our Gallery for all to see.
